Taxi to Gatwick North and South Terminal
Gatwick sits beside the M23 at junction 9, between Horley and Crawley in West Sussex. It has two terminals, North and South, linked by a free shuttle that takes about two minutes. Check which terminal your airline uses before you travel and choose it when you book, so the driver goes straight to the right drop-off.
For a European flight, aim to be at the terminal around two hours before departure, and three hours for long-haul, unless your airline says otherwise. From Crawley or Horley that means leaving shortly before; from central London, allow well over an hour for the drive, more on weekday mornings and Friday afternoons when the M23 and M25 are at their busiest.

Coming home into London, the fare is close to the outbound price because the route is the same in reverse. From Gatwick, most of south London is under an hour away outside rush hour, while the West End, the City and Canary Wharf usually take an hour or more.
