The Drive From Walton-on-Thames to Gatwick
From Walton, your driver will usually head south through Hersham to the A3 and join the M25 at junction 10, then run anticlockwise to junction 7 and down the M23 spur to the airport. From the Oatlands side, joining at junction 11 via Weybridge can be quicker. At quiet times the trip is about 40 minutes; on weekday mornings the stretch of the M25 around the A3 junction slows things down, so we allow extra time for flights in the morning peak.
Walton Bridge and the town centre get busy at school-run times. Your driver will take that into account for daytime pickups, and the fixed fare doesn’t change with traffic.
Planning an Early Flight
Airlines usually ask for around two hours at the airport before short-haul flights and three before long-haul. From Walton-on-Thames, these pickup times leave a comfortable margin:
| Flight time | Suggested pickup in Walton |
|---|---|
| 6:00am short-haul | 3:15am |
| 9:00am short-haul | 5:45am (allow for rush hour) |
| 12:00pm long-haul | 7:45am to 8:00am |
| 5:00pm short-haul | 1:45pm to 2:00pm |
Taxi or Train?
Walton-on-Thames station is on the South Western Railway main line, and there’s no direct train to Gatwick. You’d take a train to Clapham Junction and change for a Southern or Gatwick Express service, which takes about an hour in total. It’s workable with a small bag, but the station is a short way out of the town centre, and with suitcases the change at Clapham Junction is a long walk between platforms. For early flights, the first trains often don’t get you there in time.
Walton-on-Thames Pickups
We pick up from all parts of Walton, from the riverside roads and the town centre to the private estates at Burwood Park and the roads around Ashley Park. Add gate codes or directions in the booking notes. If you’re staying at a hotel locally before your flight, use the hotel’s address as your pickup.
Leaving the Car at Home
For a two-week holiday, Gatwick’s long-stay parking plus fuel can cost about the same as a return taxi from Walton, and you still face the shuttle bus with your luggage at both ends. A taxi takes you from your front door to the terminal and back, and on the way home nobody has to drive after a long flight.
Areas Around Walton-on-Thames We Cover
The same fixed fares to Gatwick cover Hersham, Oatlands, Burwood Park, Whiteley Village, West Molesey and Shepperton across the river. Enter your full address in the booking form and you’ll see the price from your door for every vehicle.
Gatwick or Heathrow From Walton-on-Thames?
Heathrow is about 10 miles from Walton, closer than Gatwick, and is the main airport for long-haul British Airways and Virgin flights. Gatwick handles many holiday and short-haul routes, including easyJet’s biggest UK base, TUI and Jet2, so plenty of Walton families fly from there. The drive to Gatwick takes around 20 minutes longer than to Heathrow. We offer fixed fares from Walton to both airports.
Coming Home: Gatwick to Walton-on-Thames
For the trip home, give us your flight number and terminal. The drive back to Walton is usually 40 to 50 minutes, depending on the time of day. We track the flight, so an early or late landing simply moves the pickup, and you get one hour of free waiting from the time it actually lands. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall; their name and number come with your confirmation.
Getting the Terminal Right
Gatwick has two terminals, North and South, about two minutes apart on the free shuttle train. If you’re dropped at the wrong one, you can switch easily, but it’s better to get it right first time. Check your airline’s terminal before you travel; the flight number on your booking lets us confirm it. When you land, your driver waits in the arrivals hall of the terminal your flight uses.

Children, Mobility Aids and Extra Stops
Add child seats in the booking form and give the children’s ages so the right seats are fitted. If anyone uses a folding wheelchair or walking aid, add a note and choose the estate or people carrier so it travels with the cases. If you need to collect someone in Hersham or Molesey on the way, add an extra stop when you book and it’s included in the quote.
If Your Flight Is Delayed
On the way home, your pickup follows the real landing time, and the first hour after landing is free, so a late flight costs you nothing extra. On the way out, if roadworks or an accident close part of the route, your driver will reroute, and the OTS team will keep you updated. For very early flights we plan a little extra time into the pickup.
What’s Included in the Fare
The price you see covers the whole journey for the vehicle, including any airport fees shown in your quote. On airport pickups it also includes flight tracking and the first hour of waiting after landing. There are no extra charges for luggage that fits the vehicle you booked, and no surge pricing at busy times.
Paying and Changing Your Booking
Nothing is paid online. The fare is fixed when you book and you pay the driver on the day. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup through Manage My Booking; inside 24 hours, call the OTS team.
