A Southampton cruise terminal to Heathrow taxi costs from £110 in a saloon on a fixed fare. Your OTS Taxi driver meets you outside the terminal as you come off the ship, loads your cases and takes you straight to your Heathrow terminal. There is no queue for the taxi rank and no change of train with a week’s worth of luggage.
Disembarkation day is the busiest morning in the port. Thousands of passengers leave each ship within a few hours, and many of them have a flight home from Heathrow the same day. Booking a private transfer from Onward Travel Solutions before you sail means the car is waiting for you, the price is agreed, and the driver already knows which terminal your ship is berthed at.

These are live one-way fares from our booking system, checked on 21 October 2026 for a weekday morning pickup. They are fixed route fares, so the price does not change if the M3 is slow, and they include the £5 airport drop-off fee at Heathrow.

For a group that has sailed together, one minibus is usually far cheaper than several cars and keeps everyone and the luggage together. Check your own fare in our booking form.
How Long Does It Take?
The drive is about 70 miles. Leaving the docks, the driver joins the M27 and then the M3 north towards London, before taking the M25 for the last stretch into Heathrow. In normal traffic it takes about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. Weekday mornings around Winchester and on the M3 near Basingstoke can add time, and the M25 approach to Heathrow is often the slowest part of the journey.
| Option | Typical time | Changes | Luggage help |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private taxi with OTS | 1 hr 15 – 1 hr 30 | None | Driver loads and unloads |
| Coach | Around 2 hours or more | Taxi or walk to the coach station first | You handle it |
| Train | 2 hours or more | Taxi to Southampton Central, then at least one change | You handle it |
Timing Your Flight After the Cruise
Ships usually arrive in Southampton early in the morning, and passengers leave in timed groups through the morning. Your cruise line gives you a disembarkation time on the last evening. Once you are off the ship you still need to collect your cases in the baggage hall and clear the terminal, which can take 30 to 60 minutes on a busy day.
As a guide, we suggest a flight leaving Heathrow no earlier than about midday for a long-haul departure, and late morning only if you are certain of an early disembarkation slot. Allow for the drive, check-in and security. If you have a tight connection, tell us your flight time when you book and we will suggest a pickup time.
- Give us your ship name and sailing date so we know which terminal to meet you at.
- Send your disembarkation group time by WhatsApp once you have it.
- Keep passports, medicines and valuables in your hand luggage, not in the cases going into the boot.
Meeting Your Driver at the Terminal
Southampton has five cruise terminals: Ocean and QEII in the Eastern Docks, and City, Mayflower and Horizon in the Western Docks. They are some distance apart, so the terminal matters. Your driver waits at the pickup area for your terminal and contacts you when you leave the baggage hall. If your disembarkation runs late, the driver waits. You do not need to rush through the terminal or worry about the meter.
For full terminal details, see our Southampton cruise terminals guide.
Which Vehicle for Cruise Luggage?
Cruise passengers usually travel with more luggage than a normal flight, often a large case each plus formal wear. Choose the vehicle by cases as well as people:
- Saloon: up to 3 passengers and 3 large cases. Fine for a couple with two big cases.
- Estate: up to 4 passengers and 4 large cases. The usual choice for two people with extra bags.
- People carrier: up to 6 passengers and 5 large cases. Good for families.
- 8-seater or executive minivan: for two or three couples travelling together.
- 12 or 16-seater minibus: for groups from the same sailing. See our Southampton cruise port minibus hire page.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a taxi from Southampton cruise terminal to Heathrow?
On 21 October 2026 our fixed fare was £110 in a saloon from Ocean or QEII terminal and £116 from City, Mayflower or Horizon terminal, including the Heathrow drop-off fee. A people carrier was £149 to £156.
What is the best way to get from Southampton cruise terminal to Heathrow?
For most cruise passengers a pre-booked taxi is the simplest option. It goes door to door in about 1 hour 15 minutes, with no changes and no carrying cases between stations. Coaches and trains are cheaper for one person travelling light, but involve at least one connection.
Are taxis available at the Southampton cruise terminal?
There are taxi ranks at the terminals, but on disembarkation morning the queues can be long and the price of a rank taxi for a long trip is not agreed in advance. Pre-booking means your car is already waiting and the price is agreed.
How early can I book a flight after disembarking?
Allow for disembarkation, collecting your cases, the drive of about 1 hour 15 minutes and airport check-in. For most passengers that means a flight from about midday onwards.
What happens if my ship is delayed?
Give us your ship name when you book and message us on WhatsApp if the ship is running late. We adjust the pickup, and the driver waits if disembarkation runs late.
Can you take a large group from the ship to Heathrow?
Yes. Our 12 and 16-seater minibuses carry groups and their luggage in one vehicle, which is usually cheaper per person than several cars.
