Royal Tunbridge Wells is about 61 miles from Heathrow, round the southern half of the M25. A pre-booked OTS Taxi from Heathrow to Tunbridge Wells costs £125 in a saloon, £142 in an estate and £166 in a people carrier. The usual drive time is about 1 hr 17 min. Your driver waits inside arrivals, follows your flight and drives you to the door.
Nearby: Tonbridge is £120 and Crowborough £135 in a saloon. Every fare is for the whole vehicle, from our booking system on 6 November 2026, and includes the parking at Heathrow while the driver waits.
Your Heathrow to Tunbridge Wells taxi route
From Heathrow it is the M25 anticlockwise all the way to junction 5 at Sevenoaks, then the A21 south past Tonbridge to Tunbridge Wells. The M25 between Heathrow and the M23 interchange at junction 7 is the slowest part, especially weekday mornings, Friday afternoons and summer Saturdays. The A21 itself can be slow through Pembury at peak times. Late-evening arrivals often make the run noticeably quicker than the typical time above.
Train, or a car from arrivals?
Southeastern trains run from London Charing Cross and Cannon Street to Tunbridge Wells, but first you have to cross London from Heathrow, usually on the Elizabeth line or Piccadilly line and then the Tube or Thameslink to London Bridge. That is three changes with luggage. After a night flight from the US or Asia, most people would rather not. A saloon shared by three works out at about £42 each, door to door.
Uber and app taxis from Heathrow
App fares to Kent can jump when lots of flights land together, and you are collected from a set pickup area rather than met inside. A pre-booked fixed fare does not change with demand, and the driver comes to find you in the arrivals hall.
Getting to Heathrow from Tunbridge Wells
The same price applies in reverse. For a long-haul departure, leave about three and a half hours before your flight, more on a Friday. For a 9am flight, a 5:30am pickup avoids most of the morning M25 traffic. If you have a lot of luggage for a long trip, the estate takes four large cases where a saloon takes three.
Areas we cover around Tunbridge Wells
We collect from and drop off in the town centre and the Pantiles, St John’s, Rusthall, Southborough, Pembury, Langton Green and Frant, plus Tonbridge, Crowborough, Paddock Wood and the High Weald villages. For country addresses, add directions in the notes so the driver can find the drive in the dark.
Is Gatwick more convenient?
Gatwick is closer to Tunbridge Wells than Heathrow. If your airline offers both, compare the transfer cost as well as the flight: see Tunbridge Wells to Gatwick taxi. For every other Heathrow route, see our Heathrow airport taxi page.

School and university runs
Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge have several boarding and independent schools, and a lot of our Heathrow trips at the start and end of term are for pupils flying home overseas or parents visiting. Parents can book on a student’s behalf: give us the student’s name, mobile and flight number, and your own email for the confirmation. For two or three students on similar flights, a people carrier keeps the cost per head down, and the driver will collect from the school entrance if you tell us where to wait.
The Pantiles and visitors to Tunbridge Wells
Tunbridge Wells is a spa town with a Georgian heart around the Pantiles, and it attracts visitors for weddings, conferences and weekends away. Hotels in the town centre and country houses in the surrounding High Weald are regular drop-off points for our Heathrow arrivals. Give us the hotel name; many of the country hotels are reached by long private drives, and the driver will go right to the door.
Commuters, business travel and the town’s offices
Many Tunbridge Wells residents commute to London, and business trips abroad usually start from Heathrow. The executive car (£170) offers a quieter ride and room to work. Put the traveller’s name and mobile in the booking and your own email for the confirmation. For a team travelling together, the executive minivan is available on request.
Schools in Tonbridge and Sevenoaks
Tonbridge and Sevenoaks both have well-known schools with boarding pupils from overseas, and the start and end of each term bring a rush of Heathrow runs. Parents can book on a pupil’s behalf: give the pupil’s name, mobile and flight number, the boarding house, and your email for the confirmation. Tonbridge is £120 in a saloon. For several pupils on similar flights, a people carrier keeps the cost per pupil down.
Crowborough and the Ashdown Forest
Crowborough is £135 in a saloon. We also collect from Groombridge, Hartfield, Forest Row and the villages around the Ashdown Forest. Country lanes here are narrow and unlit, so add directions and a landmark.
Gatwick and Dover from Tunbridge Wells
Gatwick is the closer airport for many European flights; see Tunbridge Wells to Gatwick. If you are taking a ferry or cruise from Dover instead, our Tunbridge Wells to Dover port taxi page covers that trip. For Heathrow’s long-haul terminal, see the Terminal 3 taxi guide.

Weddings in the High Weald
The country houses, barns and hotels around Tunbridge Wells host a lot of weddings, and guests flying in from abroad often land at Heathrow on the same day. Send us the guests’ flight numbers and the venue, and we will plan the cars so that people landing close together share a vehicle. For the wedding party itself, the executive car and executive minivan are available. On the return, the driver can collect from the venue or the guests’ hotels the morning after.
For a large wedding party, the 8-seater (£221) carries eight guests with luggage in one booking.
