Which Size Do You Need?
Match the vehicle to the luggage as well as the head count. For up to 8 people, an 8-seater minivan is cheapest. For 9 to 12 people, or a smaller group with lots of luggage, book the 12 seater minibus. For 13 to 16 people, or a cruise party with heavy cases, book the 16 seater minibus. On a night out or a match day, when nobody is carrying luggage, a full 16 seater from Victoria to Wembley works out at under £18 a head.
For airport runs from London, also compare two 8-seaters. Our 8-seaters have fixed airport fares, so to Gatwick and Stansted two of them often cost less than one minibus, and they carry 16 large cases between them. Picking Up Around London
London groups are rarely in one place. You might be collecting from three flats in different boroughs, a hotel in Bloomsbury and an office in the City. Add each address as an extra stop when you book, and the fixed fare includes the extra distance. On a typical cross-London pickup an extra stop adds very little, because it is priced on the small detour rather than charged as a flat fee.
A minibus cannot stop just anywhere in central London. For hotels, use the main entrance or the hotel’s coach and taxi bay. For homes on narrow residential streets, give a nearby wider road or junction in the notes. For offices, the loading bay or a side street usually works better than a busy main road with red routes. The driver will contact the group lead before arrival.
Match Days, Concerts and Events
Wembley, Twickenham, the O2 and the big London venues are some of the easiest places to arrive by minibus and the hardest to leave by Tube after an event. Book the outward journey to the venue and a return pickup after the final whistle or encore. A minibus is a simple way to get a group to Windsor, Oxford, Cambridge or the coast without splitting up on trains. Victoria to Windsor in a 12 seater is £264.91, which is about £22 each for 12 people. Book the journey there and the journey back as two legs. London groups sailing from Southampton, Dover or Portsmouth often book a minibus because of the cases, and on these long runs one minibus is cheaper than two smaller vehicles. Arriving in London as a Group
Visiting groups, such as tour parties, school exchanges, choirs and conference delegates, often need the journey in reverse: from the airport to a hotel. The fares are much the same as the outward trip. Give the hotel name and postcode, and the flight number, when you book. The driver will meet the group in arrivals with the lead passenger’s name and take everyone to the hotel’s front entrance. If the group splits across two hotels, add the second as an extra stop.
Timing a Trip Across London
Journey times in London depend more on the time of day than the distance. Crossing from east to west, for example Canary Wharf to Heathrow, can take an hour in the evening rush and half that late at night. For morning flights, plan to leave earlier than a route planner suggests, especially on weekdays between 7am and 9.30am. Because minibus fares are not charged on time, leaving early to be safe costs nothing extra.
