An 8 seater taxi from Onward Travel Solutions costs £136.35 from central London to Heathrow, or about £17 a head for eight people. The 8-seater minivan takes 8 passengers, 8 large suitcases and up to 6 smaller bags. Every fare is fixed when you book, covers the whole vehicle and is paid to the driver on the day.
It is the vehicle we send for families of seven or eight, groups of friends heading to the airport, and anyone with more luggage than a people carrier can hold. Enter your journey in the booking form above for your exact fare.

What Fits in an 8 Seater Taxi
The 8-seater minivan seats 8 passengers plus the driver. It takes up to 8 large suitcases and around 6 smaller bags, so a group of eight can each bring one hold case and a cabin bag. Pushchairs, golf bags and skis take more room than a suitcase, so count each one as a large case when you book. Child seats are fitted on request. Add each child’s age in the booking form.
If your group has more luggage than that, or more than eight people, look at the 12 seater minibus, or book two 8-seaters. For Gatwick and Stansted runs, two 8-seaters often cost about the same as one minibus, or less, and carry more luggage.
8 Seater, People Carrier or Two Cars?
Groups of five to eight usually choose between a people carrier, two saloons or one 8-seater. Here is how the fares compare on three common runs:
| Journey | People carrier (6) | Two saloons (6) | 8-seater (8) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Central London → Heathrow | £102.45 | £153.06 | £136.35 |
| Central London → Gatwick | £125.11 | £197.48 | £150.50 |
| Central London → Southampton cruise terminals | £202.81 | £304.40 | £271.28 |
For six people with a case each, the people carrier is the cheapest, as long as the luggage fits. It takes 5 large cases. Once you are seven or eight people, or six people with six or more cases, the 8-seater is the right vehicle. It is also cheaper than two saloons on every route above, and the group arrives together.
Is There a 7 Seater Taxi?
For seven passengers we send the 8-seater minivan. That gives everyone a proper seat with a seatbelt, room for seven large cases, and the same fixed fare as a group of eight. Most “7 seater” cars have a third row with very little boot space behind it, so for an airport run with luggage the 8-seater is the more practical choice anyway.
Executive Minivan Option
For business travel or a special occasion, the executive minivan seats up to 6 passengers with 6 large cases, in a higher-spec vehicle. On some routes it costs about the same as the standard 8-seater: central London to Heathrow is £132.42. On others it costs more, for example £182.51 from central London to Gatwick. For more on executive group travel, see Mercedes V-Class 8 seater.
8 Seater Taxi to the Airport
Most of our 8-seater bookings are airport runs. On the way out, the driver collects from your door and drops at the right terminal. On the way home, the driver tracks your flight and meets you in arrivals, and the first hour after landing is free. That matters with children and a lot of bags.

Cruise Port Transfers
Cruise passengers carry more luggage than most, and an 8-seater lets two couples or a family of six travel with all their cases in one vehicle. We run to Southampton, Dover and Portsmouth, dropping at the terminal building for your ship. See 8 seater taxi to Southampton, 8 seater taxi to Dover and 8 seater taxi to Portsmouth.
8 Seater Taxi Near Me
The 8-seater is pre-booked, not hailed. We collect anywhere in London and the South East, including Surrey, Sussex, Kent, Essex, Hertfordshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire, and further afield on request. Because the fare is worked out from your real pickup address, there is no zone surcharge for villages or outer suburbs. For a group spread across two or three homes, add the extra addresses as stops. Each is priced only on the extra distance it adds. Booking the day before or earlier gives the best chance of an 8-seater being available, especially for early-morning flights and summer weekends.
Families Travelling With Children
Families of seven and eight are the most common 8-seater bookings. Add the number and ages of children when you book so the right child seats or boosters are fitted before the driver arrives. Put a folded pushchair down as one large case. If a grandparent needs a little extra help, mention it in the notes and the driver will allow time at pickup.
Planning Your Pickup Time
Getting eight people out of the door takes longer than getting two. For a European flight from Heathrow or Gatwick, aim to arrive at the terminal about two and a half hours before departure. For long-haul, aim for three hours. Then work back using the journey time, and add 15 minutes for loading luggage and settling children. From central London that usually means leaving three to three and a half hours before a short-haul departure. The fare is the same whatever time you choose, so there is no reason to cut it fine.
Paying and Cancelling
Nothing is paid online. The fare is fixed at booking and you pay the driver on the day. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup; inside 24 hours, call the OTS team. The fare includes any airport fee shown in your quote, flight tracking on airport pickups and an hour of free waiting after landing. There is no surge pricing.
