What time should my taxi pick me up?
Work backwards from your departure time. Most airlines ask you to be at the terminal two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before long-haul, and bag drop usually closes 45 to 60 minutes before departure. Then add the drive, which is much quicker at night:

These assume about 45 to 60 minutes from central London with a buffer. From Reading or Guildford the drive is similar; from Oxford or Croydon allow a little longer. After about 6am, traffic on the M4 and M25 builds quickly, so for flights after 9am leave more time, not less.

- Trains may not run early enough. For a 6am departure you need to be at Heathrow before the first regular trains from many places arrive.
- No waiting at the kerb. The driver arrives at your door at the agreed time and helps with the bags.
- A fixed price at 3am. No surge pricing, no meter running.
- Right terminal. Tell us your airline and we drop you at the correct terminal. Heathrow charges every vehicle £7 for the departures forecourt with a 10-minute limit, and the airport fee shows as its own line in your quote.
Arriving on an early flight
The first long-haul arrivals land at Heathrow before 5am. If you are on one of them, give us your flight number. We track the flight, and the driver waits for you in the arrivals hall with a name board, even if you land early. You walk out of customs to someone holding your name, not to an empty taxi rank.
Making the morning go smoothly
- Book at least the day before. Same-night bookings are possible but not guaranteed.
- Add your flight number and terminal in the booking.
- Put a working mobile number on the booking. The driver texts or calls when they are outside.
- Check in online the night before and have passports ready by the door.
- If you have a large group or lots of luggage, book a people carrier or 8-seater so everything fits in one car.
