Newhaven to Heathrow Taxi

Newhaven is a ferry town as well as a home town: DFDS sails from here to Dieppe, and many passengers arriving by sea continue to Heathrow for a flight. An OTS Taxi from Newhaven to Heathrow costs £144 in a saloon, about 75 miles, and takes around 1 hr 34 min. The fare is fixed when you book, for the whole vehicle, with the Heathrow drop-off charge included (checked 6 November 2026).

Newhaven to Heathrow taxi: Ferry to flight

If you are coming off the Dieppe ferry and flying from Heathrow, give us the sailing and your flight times. The driver will meet you at the foot passenger exit and head straight for the airport. Ferries can arrive late in bad weather, so leave a generous gap: at least five or six hours between scheduled docking and your flight is sensible. For ferry times, see the DFDS website.

The route

From Newhaven the driver takes the A26 and A27 to the A23, north on the M23 past Gatwick, then west on the M25 to Heathrow. The M25 between junctions 7 and 14 decides the timing; it is slow at peak hours and on Friday afternoons. For a morning long-haul flight, a pickup around 4am avoids most of it.

Gatwick is closer

Gatwick is about 45 minutes from Newhaven and much cheaper to reach. If your airline flies from there, see our Newhaven to Gatwick taxi page. Heathrow is the choice for most long-haul flights and some airlines that do not fly from Gatwick.

Train or taxi?

From Newhaven you would take the train to Lewes or Brighton, then into London, and across to Paddington or onto the Elizabeth line. That is three changes with luggage. A car from the ferry or your front door is simpler, and for two or more people costs about the same per head.

Where we collect

Newhaven town and port, Peacehaven, Telscombe, Seaford, Lewes and the villages of the lower Ouse valley.

Coming home, the driver tracks your flight and waits in arrivals with an hour of free waiting after landing. Bookings are handled by Onward Travel Solutions (OTS Taxi) from our office at 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, on 07575 470883 by phone or WhatsApp, day or night. The price you see is the price you pay the driver, and you can cancel without charge up to a day before.

Ferry passengers: from Dieppe to a Heathrow flight

The Newhaven–Dieppe crossing is a useful link for travellers from northern France, and some passengers arrive by sea and fly onward from Heathrow. It works well if you leave enough time. The crossing takes around four hours, foot passengers come off after the vehicles, and passport control at Newhaven can take a while. We suggest at least five or six hours between scheduled docking and your flight. Give us the sailing time when you book and we will follow the ship, not the timetable: if it docks late, the driver waits. For crossing times and terminal information, see the DFDS website.

Going the other way: Heathrow to the Dieppe ferry

Travellers landing at Heathrow and continuing to France by sea need the same care. Check the check-in deadline for foot passengers and book the car to arrive at Newhaven well before it. From Heathrow, the drive is about 1 hr 34 min in normal traffic. If your flight is delayed, the driver waits and follows the new landing time, but a missed ferry is your responsibility, so leave a margin.

Seaford, Peacehaven and Lewes

Newhaven sits between Seaford and Peacehaven at the mouth of the Ouse. We collect throughout the area, including Bishopstone, Telscombe Cliffs, Saltdean and Lewes. Many cliff-top homes in Peacehaven are on long residential roads that look alike in the dark; add a landmark to the booking. For Seaford addresses, the fare is similar to Newhaven’s.

Gatwick or Heathrow from Newhaven?

Gatwick is by far the closer airport, roughly 45 minutes up the A26 and A23, and most short-haul flights from the area leave from there. Heathrow is the airport for long-haul and for airlines that do not fly from Gatwick. If both work for your trip, compare the two transfer fares in the booking form. See our Newhaven to Gatwick taxi page, and for nearby Brighton, Brighton to Heathrow.

University students at Falmer

Students at the universities at Falmer, a few miles from Newhaven, often live in Newhaven, Peacehaven and Lewes. International students heading home from Heathrow at the end of term usually need the estate (£163) for their luggage.

Local information

For travel news and road closures, see the Lewes and Eastbourne Councils website. For Heathrow terminal details, see our Terminal 5 and Terminal 3 guides.

The cost of getting from Newhaven to Heathrow

From Newhaven, the saloon fare is £144 for about 75 miles. For a couple, that is about £72 each, door to terminal. By rail, a journey from Newhaven Town to Heathrow involves changes at Lewes or Brighton and in London, and costs each traveller separately.

Peacehaven and Saltdean pickups

We collect along the coast road from Seaford to Saltdean. Many Peacehaven roads run north from the A259 in a long grid; give us the house number and the nearest cross street to help the driver in the dark.

Heading to Heathrow for a long-haul holiday

For a 10am flight, a pickup in Newhaven at about 5am gives a comfortable margin round the M25. For families with lots of luggage, the estate (£163) or people carrier (£191) is the better choice.

South Downs and Seven Sisters walkers

Newhaven is a gateway to the South Downs and the Seven Sisters cliffs, and walkers from abroad often fly into Heathrow for a few days on the South Downs Way. The driver can take you from arrivals to your starting point or your first night’s accommodation, with room for rucksacks and boots in the estate. If your walk ends elsewhere, such as Eastbourne or Winchester, we can collect you there for the return flight; enter the address in the booking form for a fixed price. For walking groups, the 8-seater (£253) takes eight people with luggage.

Coming back from France

For travellers returning from Dieppe and heading straight for a Heathrow flight, check the foot passenger arrival time and add a margin for passport checks before booking your flight. The driver waits at the agreed meeting point outside the terminal building.

Foot passengers can usually bring large cases on the ferry, but check your operator’s limits before you travel, especially if you are carrying sports equipment or bikes.
