Battersea is about 15 miles from Heathrow, and on a clear road the car is the quickest way there. An OTS Taxi from Battersea to Heathrow costs £72 in a saloon, collected from your door in SW11 and dropped at your terminal with the airport charge included. Allow around 39 minutes in normal traffic.

Battersea to Heathrow taxi: Is there a direct train?
Not to the terminals. From Clapham Junction you can reach Feltham and take a bus, or go into central London and out again on the Elizabeth line or Piccadilly line. The Northern line extension to Battersea Power Station does not connect directly to Heathrow either. With luggage, the car is far simpler: the driver goes out along the A3205 and the A4 or through Wandsworth to the A316 and M3 or M4, whichever is quickest on the day.
When to leave Battersea
Weekday mornings between 7am and 9:30am and evenings from 4pm are the slowest, especially on the Chiswick roundabout and the A4. For a long-haul flight, allow about three hours before departure; for European flights, two and a half. A 5am pickup typically reaches the terminal in under 40 minutes.
Battersea Power Station, Nine Elms and flats
Much of SW11 is apartment living, from the riverside blocks at Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms to the mansion flats on Prince of Wales Drive and the terraces around Northcote Road. Give us the building name, flat number and the best place for the driver to stop. Many new developments have concierges or drop-off bays; the driver will call when outside.
Clapham Junction and the surrounding area
We collect from Clapham Junction (£73), Lavender Hill, Wandsworth Common, Clapham and Vauxhall at similar prices. For neighbouring areas see our Chelsea to Heathrow page.
Coming back to SW11
The driver tracks your flight, waits in arrivals with your name and gives you an hour of free waiting after landing. For late-evening arrivals, the run back into London is often under 40 minutes.
Bookings are handled by Onward Travel Solutions (OTS Taxi) from our office at 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, on 07575 470883 by phone or WhatsApp, day or night. The price you see is the price you pay the driver, and you can cancel without charge up to a day before.
Which road the driver takes from SW11
From Battersea there are three sensible routes, and the driver picks one on the day. The first runs along the river through Wandsworth Bridge Road and Fulham to the A4 at Hammersmith, then the M4. The second goes south-west through Wandsworth and Putney to the A3, then the A316 and the M3 to the M25. The third, used when the A4 is jammed, cuts through Earls Court to the Cromwell Road. Each has its own pinch points: the Hammersmith flyover, the Chiswick roundabout and the A316 at Richmond. Early in the morning, all three are quick.
Because the fare is fixed, a slow route costs you time but never money. That is the main difference from a black cab on the meter, which on a bad morning can cost far more than our fixed £72.
Battersea Power Station, the new neighbourhood
The redeveloped Battersea Power Station has brought thousands of new homes, offices and hotel rooms to the riverside, along with a new Northern line station. Residents, office workers and hotel guests use our Heathrow transfers every day. The development has private roads, drop-off areas and building concierges; give us the building name and the driver will use the closest drop-off point. For maps and access information, the Battersea Power Station website has the details.
Northcote Road, Clapham Common and the mansion flats
Away from the river, much of Battersea is Victorian terraces and mansion blocks around Clapham Common, Northcote Road, Battersea Park and Prince of Wales Drive. Many streets have residents’ parking on both sides, so the driver will stop briefly outside, call, and help load the bags. Be ready at the booked time if you are on a narrow street. Clapham Junction station and the area around St John’s Hill are covered at the same price as Battersea itself.
Tube, train or car?
There is no simple public transport link from Battersea to Heathrow. The Northern line from Battersea Power Station takes you to Kennington and the West End, from where you need the Piccadilly or Elizabeth line. From Clapham Junction, trains run to Feltham, but you then need a bus to the terminals. Each option is fine with a backpack, and hard work with suitcases. Transport for London has journey planners for all of them if you want to compare.
Gatwick from Battersea
Battersea is also well placed for Gatwick, straight down the A3 and A23 or by train from Clapham Junction. If your flight is from Gatwick, see our Gatwick airport taxi page. For other south-west London areas, see Clapham to Heathrow and Heathrow Terminal 5 taxi.

Hotels and short lets around Battersea
Battersea now has several hotels around the Power Station and Nine Elms, plus many serviced apartments and short lets. Guests heading home can book from reception; give us the hotel name and the time to leave. For short lets, add the building and flat number and any access instructions, especially where there is a key box or concierge.
Price per person from SW11
At £72 for a saloon, the fare is fixed for the whole car. For a family of four in the estate (£82), that is about £21 each, door to terminal, which compares well with four Tube and Elizabeth line fares and two changes with luggage. Executive cars are £96 for business trips.
Getting home late
Late-evening arrivals at Heathrow are common, and the Tube can be slow or replaced by buses on some nights. The driver tracks your flight and waits in arrivals, and the run back to SW11 at night usually takes well under 40 minutes.
Nine Elms offices and the embassy quarter
The Nine Elms area, between Battersea and Vauxhall, is home to the US Embassy and a growing number of offices. Visitors and staff fly in and out of Heathrow on business, and the executive car (£96) is a popular choice. Put the traveller’s name and mobile in the booking so the driver can contact them directly, and add your email for the confirmation.
