Crawley to Heathrow Taxi

A taxi from Crawley to Heathrow costs £84 in a saloon at our fixed fare. The journey is about 42 miles, up the M23 and round the M25, and the price is the same to every Heathrow terminal.

The fare is the easy part. The harder part of this trip is the timing, because traffic on the M25 between the M23 and Heathrow can vary a great deal from one day to the next. This page focuses on that.

When to leave Crawley

Start from your airline’s advice on when to be at the airport. For long-haul flights that is often around three hours before departure. Then add the drive and a buffer that depends on the time of day:

Your flight leaves Aim to be at Heathrow Suggested pickup in Crawley
07:00 04:00 03:00
11:00 08:00 06:15
15:00 12:00 10:30
19:00 (Friday) 16:00 14:00

These are planning examples, not promises; roadworks and accidents can change any day. Early-morning departures are the most predictable because the M25 is quiet. Weekday mornings and Friday afternoons need the biggest margin.

Be ready at the door

Your driver waits 10 minutes free of charge at a home pickup. On an airport run, those minutes matter, so have the cases by the door and passports to hand before the car arrives.

At the terminal

Heathrow charges £7 each time a vehicle enters a terminal drop-off zone, and the stay is limited to 10 minutes. The charge is already in your fare. Our Heathrow drop-off guide explains the rules.

You can check your terminal and flight on the official Heathrow departures board.

Which terminal?

The fare is the same to every Heathrow terminal. British Airways flies mainly from Terminal 5, and Virgin Atlantic, Delta, American Airlines and Emirates from Terminal 3. Check your booking and tell us, because the terminals are a long way apart and the driver needs to head for the right one.

Choosing the right car

A saloon carries three people and three suitcases. For a long-haul trip with two cases each, a couple needs the estate (£97), and a family of four needs the people carrier (£112) or the 8-seater (£125). The 8-seater costs only £13 more than the people carrier and carries three more cases.

Gatwick or Heathrow?

Crawley is right next to Gatwick, so if the same flight is available from both airports, Gatwick is far closer: our Gatwick to Crawley fare is £33 in a saloon, against £84 to Heathrow. For long-haul routes only Heathrow serves, the timings above help you plan.
