Southampton Cruise Port 12 Seater Minibus

A 12-seater minibus is ideal for getting a cruise party to Southampton with all its luggage in one vehicle. We collect the group from home, a hotel or the airport and take everyone to the right cruise terminal for a fixed price.

The fare covers the whole minibus and is agreed when you book, which makes splitting the cost across the group simple. Use the booking form at the top of this page and choose the 12-seat minibus for an instant quote.

The 12-Seater Minibus at a Glance

  • Seats: up to 12 passengers plus the driver.
  • Vehicle: typically a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ford Transit or similar high-roof minibus.
  • Driver included: an experienced driver who handles the route, parking and loading.
  • Service: drop-off at your cruise or ferry terminal and pickups timed to your ship’s arrival.
  • Availability: 24 hours a day, including early starts and late returns.

Who Books a 12-Seater for Southampton Cruise Port?

Extended families celebrating a milestone, groups of friends sailing together and small cruise clubs book our 12-seaters for Southampton, often combined with a pickup from Heathrow or Gatwick after a flight.

Across all our routes, the 12-seater is popular with families travelling together, small corporate teams, golf and sports clubs, choirs and bands, and wedding parties of up to a dozen guests. If your group is 9 or 10 people with heavy luggage, a 12-seater is often the more comfortable choice than squeezing into an 8-seater, because the spare seats and boot give you room to breathe.

Seating and Luggage Space

With all 12 seats filled, a typical 12-seater takes around one large suitcase and one cabin bag per passenger, depending on the model. If your group is travelling light, there is room to spare; if everyone has two large cases, ski bags or golf clubs, tell us when you book and we will confirm the right vehicle.

Pushchairs, folding wheelchairs and car seats all take space, so include them in the booking notes.

Travelling to Southampton Cruise Port

Southampton is the UK’s busiest cruise port, with several terminals, including the City, Mayflower, Ocean, Horizon and QEII cruise terminals. Your cruise line will tell you which terminal your ship uses. On embarkation days the port roads get busy, so we plan the group’s arrival within your check-in window rather than at the last minute.

We drop the group at the terminal’s baggage drop area, where porters take your cases to the ship. On your return, the driver meets the group after disembarkation and helps load the luggage.

For terminal information and live updates, see the official Port of Southampton website.

One Minibus vs Several Cars

Instead of booking three saloons or two people carriers, one 12-seater keeps the group together, arrives at one time and gives you a single fixed price.

One 12-seater minibus Several taxis
Arrival Everyone together Cars can arrive at different times
Price One fixed fare Several fares to pay and share
Coordination One driver, one contact number Several drivers to track
Luggage Loaded once, in one place Split across boots

Choosing the Right Size: 8, 12 or 16 Seats

Group size Best vehicle Why
5 to 8 people 8-seater minivan Lower price, easy to park, fine with standard luggage
9 to 12 people 12-seater minibus Room for the group and holiday luggage in one vehicle
13 to 16 people 16-seater minibus Keeps a large party together with one driver
More than 16 Two or more vehicles We coordinate the vehicles to arrive together

If you are between sizes, choose by luggage as well as passengers. A group of 11 with large cases and sports bags may travel more comfortably in a 16-seater than a full 12-seater.

What’s Included in the Price

  • The whole minibus and an experienced driver for your journey.
  • Fuel.
  • Pickup timing around your sailing, and waiting time after disembarkation.
  • Help with loading and unloading luggage.
  • A fixed price that does not change with traffic or diversions.

Practical Tips for Group Port Transfers

  • Check your terminal: your cruise line or ferry company confirms which terminal you need.
  • Arrive within your check-in window: cruise lines give each passenger an arrival time; aim for the start of it so the group is not rushed.
  • Label your bags: put the ship’s luggage tags on before you leave home so porters can take them straight on board.
  • Choose one lead contact: the driver will call one person, so give us the organiser’s number.
  • Book the return at the same time: we plan the pickup around the ship’s arrival and disembarkation.

Areas We Cover Around Southampton

Cruise groups often travel to Southampton from London, the Home Counties and the Midlands, or connect from Heathrow and Gatwick after a flight. We cover Heathrow, Gatwick, central London, Surrey, Berkshire, Oxford, Winchester, Bournemouth, and anywhere else in the UK. If your address is not listed, the booking form will still give a fixed price.

How to Book Your 12-Seater

  1. Get a quote: enter your pickup, destination and date in the form at the top of the page, and choose the 12-seat minibus.
  2. Add the details: passenger numbers, luggage, ship name and sailing time and any extra stops.
  3. Confirm: you receive the booking confirmation, and the driver’s details before the journey.
  4. Travel: pay the driver on the day, or use your company account if you have one.

Book at least a few days ahead where possible. Larger vehicles are limited and go quickly at peak times.

Business, Event and Group Travel

Business customers can pay on account, and event organisers can book several vehicles in one go for guests arriving at different times. See our corporate accounts page for details.

Please note we do not currently operate wheelchair-accessible minibuses with ramps or lifts. Folding wheelchairs can be carried if you tell us when you book.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people can travel in the 12-seater minibus?

Up to 12 passengers plus the driver.

Is the price fixed?

Yes. The price covers the whole minibus and is agreed when you book. It does not change with traffic.

What if our ship is late?

Tell us the ship name and we plan the pickup around its arrival. If disembarkation runs late, the driver waits.

Is a driver included?

Yes. Every minibus booking comes with an experienced driver, so nobody in your group needs to drive.

Can we make extra stops?

Yes. Add extra pickups or drop-offs in the booking form, for example to collect guests from different addresses.

How do we pay?

You pay the driver on the day. Business customers can pay on account with monthly invoices.

Is a 12-seater minibus big enough for 12 people with luggage?

Usually yes, with around one large case and one cabin bag each. If your group has more than that, or bulky items like golf clubs, tell us when you book so we can confirm the vehicle or suggest a 16-seater.

Should we book a 12-seater or an 8-seater?

For 8 people or fewer, an 8-seater is normally the better value. From 9 passengers, or for 7 to 8 people with a lot of luggage, the 12-seater is the right size.

Which Southampton cruise terminal will we use?

Your cruise line confirms the terminal in your travel documents. Give us the ship and sailing date and we will take the group to the right one.

Can you collect us from Heathrow and take us to the ship?

Yes. Flight-to-cruise transfers are one of our most common group bookings. We track the flight and allow enough time for check-in.
